Nationwide Reading Day Celebration

CGES Celebrates Reading Day

Pupils of Catalunan Grande Elementary School enjoyed different reading activities done in the school ground when the bell rang at 9 o'clock in the morning of November 25, 2011.  It was the particular hour of that day when all schools all over the Philippines had a synchronized reading activity.

CGES teachers used different reading strategies that made the activity more creative and fun.  Some teachers had their students do a choral reading, paired reading and others did readers' theater and  dialog reading.

After the reading activity, the pupils were asked to write on the reading wall anything about what they have read.  It could be a title of the story they've read, their favorite characters, the line they couldn't forget, or the lessons they got from the story.  Those who cannot express their thoughts through writing still had the chance to participate by drawing or illustrating their most-liked part of the story.

The highlight of the reading day celebration was done in the afternoon when pupils from Grades I to VI had a Book Character Parade.

The following were the entries for the Book Character Parade Contest:

Grade Two

Grade Three

Grade Four
